Changing icons for .exe files (not just shortcuts)?

I know some people have managed to change the icons for .exe files like iTunes, uTorrent, Skype, etc. completely (meaning, not just the desktop shortcut, but the icon in the default folder as well. As if it were the original thing). I just have no idea how, as this isn't possible like it was on previous versions of Windows (don't remember which ones, but it was years back).

Know any software that does this? I would like to change the default icon to Chrome and a few other .exe files, so that I don't have to see the original at all. Kinda addicted to customizing things.

I ultimately ended up using a similar program. That one wasn't really working that well, but thanks anyway.
