Catalyst Control Center

Some folders have a context menu item called Catalyst Control Center. When I
click on it I get a message that it has stopped working. It is installed so
what's up with this message?

If I use Autoruns, I can see a run key with "clistart.exe" in it.

I think it may have something to do with getting "CCC.exe" running
in Task Manager ? Check in Task Manager and see if a Catalyst process
CCC.exe is running there or not. Perhaps with something like that, the
rest of it will be available.

I looked in Services (I have ATI graphics), and didn't see anything there.
And my context menu entry works, and the Catalyst Control panel for ATI
graphics opens after about a 20 second delay (slow disk drive).

The "clistart.exe" is in C:\Program Files (x86)\ati technologies\ati.ACE\core-static

If you had installed and ATI video card and Catalyst control Centre would be installed
by default.

If you decide to install Nividia card the ATI catlytic control Centre has to me removed
manually.

In my case I went to the original ATI CD which has an option of removing CCC

There is a utility to remove all ATI files but is incredibly difficult find on the internet.
I have used it in the past.

This can happen if you let Windows Update update the Graphics card driver.
Sometimes having an earler version of Catalyst Control Centre with newer
graphics card drivers won't work.
The easiest solution is to get the upgrade directly from AMD (who now own
ATI):

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

You will need to know the model of graphics card you have and which
version of Windows you are running.
