When you upload your pictures you may be sharing more information than you really mean too. GPS information may be stored with the photo which pinpoints exactly where you were when it was taken.

Check out the article and protect yourself.

That's great info. I never knew that when taking pics, your location is tracked. Seems as though everything is tracked these days.

As I recall, can't you turn off GPS with some phones? I once had a phone where you could do this, but don't know if that's an option now. I'll have to check & see.

That's what I meant, a cell phone. I kinda take it for granted, and don't put the word "cell" in front of it. Probably because that's the only phones in our home, and has been for some time. They don't have all of those "hidden" charges, or nowhere near as bad as AT&T does.

In fact, more & more people in the US only has cell service, and why not? It's portable & cheap. And unless you absolutely need the "latest" in a cell phone, many cell providers will practically give you a phone, as long as you sign a 2 year contract.

As far as tracking photos goes, I've only sent a few pics in text messages since I've been using cell phones. Normally, I take them, and store them on my computer in a separate folder.

I just don't see the purpose of tracking where pictures are taken, though. None whatsoever. If only the truth were known, there's no telling just how much info there is on everyone that's been compiled.

Like many others, my main concern is, just what's being done with this data & how long it's stored? Probably some more of the "homeland security" crap that's been going on for almost 10 years now.

I've seen an ad lately where the Cellphone maker was touting this photo tracking thing as a "feature" that you should want to have. O_O

There are perfectly great reasons this could be helpful. I know I have taken pictures and later when sorting them I couldn't remember where it was taken. You just want to make sure you use a site that strips off this information or you need to do it yourself before uploading it for "the world" to see.
