[SOLVED] How can I get rid of the hiberfil.sys file in Windows7 home edition

Hello ,

I am using the windows7 for home edition.
I installed this with my 40GB SSD. I am lack of C drive because of hiberfil.sys file.
I tried the command with "powercfg -h off". But it didn't work.

How can I get rid of this hibeerfil.sys file in my laptop ?

Click start and type cmd. right click cmd icon and choose run as administrator. In the command box type

"powercfg -h off"

without the quotes. Hit enter and you're done. Close it out and check to see if you gained your space back.

It looks like in original message that he tried power off command. However I could have read it wrong

Not sure as I don't use it, but he must also after that command, right click and manually delete it.

This saved as a reg file and merged to registry also turns Hibernate off.

After a re-boot the hyberfil.sys "is no more, has ceased to be" (I feel a Pythonesque moment trying to burst through)

yhkim2111. Did you get any message in the command prompt window, when you excuted? "Commen unknown" completed succesfully" etc...?
In the evnt of anerror through the command prompt, Elmer's suggestion change the registry in exacly the same manner, but could bypass any confliction you may have..

I got error message in command prompt with powercfg -h off.
But Elmer's suggestion is perfect. I successfully eliminated the hiberfil.sys file. I appreciated.
