I am trying to install the Broadcom Bluetooth stack via their software install program SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe. My BT dongle is a Rocketfish RF-mrbtad installed in a USB port. Operating system Win 7 64 bit SP1.

The installation application crashes at the "verify bluetooth" stage of installation and the expanded error code is as follows:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: BtwDownload.exe
Application Version: 1.0.0.1
Application Timestamp: 4a275189
Fault Module Name: BtwDownload.exe
Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.1

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Does anybody have a workaround for this? The standard MS drivers do not support all the services I need for my mobile phone, and I know the Widcom drivers do.

Thanks.

Checking out the specs from RocketFish

http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/pr...RF-FLBTAD.html

There is an external link for for a(n) updated driver.

http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php

Make sure you read all of the download instructions carefully. I found that you have to save download and not run it.

The link at Rocketfish takes you to the Broadcom download site. That is where I obtained the SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe file that I ran. Saved it and then ran as admin. Got error in first post.

Tried running the installer with my antivirus (Avast!) turned off, and it ran to completion.

That was my next suggestion, to turn off AV when installing driver/software. I've switched to MSE for my AV protection and ever since I've not had that problem with an AV messing up a(n) download/install of any kind.

Glad you caught it first. Nice job
