I bought Norton NIS before I upgraded to Windows 7. Since I upgraded to Win 7 64-bit I discovered NIS does not have a 64-bit version so I don't use the 64-bit IE8 (Adobe flash isn't supported in 64bit either) but if they don't get on the ball I do not plan to renew.

Hey Norton and Adobe the world is going 64bit - catch up or get left behind !

From a few days, i am using Nod32 and i really like it. Its low on resources and hard on security. Certainly, a good choice to make !

I use NIS and Flash CS4 under 64bit Windows 7 Pro and have no issues with them.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

This certainly applies to AV and firewall programs. The subject has been discussed here and on other websites to the point of: ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Thrax has posted on this site previously, several times actually, the results from an independent organization called: AV-Comparatives.org

Go there and read the results and data. See how they do what they do.

BTW, I am now using G DATA Internet Security. It's top-rated at AV Comparatives and a year subscription is $29.95 USD.

TrainableMan you're mistaken if you're referring to Norton Internet Security 2010.

I'm reading this from my NIS retail box:
System Requirements Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit.

Maybe you were looking at an older version?

It will run on a 64bit machine but it isn't a 64bit product. If you are running a 64-bit OS look in the Program Files directory for any Norton - nothing, look in Program Files (x86) - there it is.

Open a 32bit ie8 browser and there is the Norton toolbar watching over to flag those evil websites and watch for nasty webcode, now open the 64bit ie8 browser - come on down evil webcode cause Norton isn't here!

If they have it then it's brand spankin new or the tech support guy I spoke with 3 weeks ago was misinformed. I'm running NIS2010 with a 2yr license.
