I ran chkdsk on a drive to check it's integrity. Usually with XP even if there aren't any bad sectors, it will inform you, "0Kb in bad sectors". Does 7 leave out that field if there aren't any?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums arnov

If you want to check for Bad Sectors, you'll need to run chkdsk with the /R switch:

Code:

chkdsk /R
That will check for and fix any bad sectors on your drive.

No it doesn't. You can also access chkdsk by right-clicking on the drive you want to check in the "Computer" window and then re-booting.

That's new! How do you do that? I don't remember seeing that option.

In Explorer, right click a drive > Properties > Tools > then click "Check Now" under Error-Checking
