Bad Installation

I commited the cardinal sin of installations I had a version of Vista ultimate and installed Windows 7 home premium I backed up the important files now how do I get out of this mess

Format the hard drive and then install W7 Home Prem.

You will then have to reinstall all your programs and restore your data from back-up.
