This may be a question for Acronis - but you guys are pretty helpful.

I installed Acronis True Image 2011.
But when I went to Control Panel, hen Backup & Restore, the Acronis opened up.
So, not seeing where to turn that off. I uninstalled the program.

Now when I go to Cont Panel and Back up & Restore - no window opens!
Nor when I go to Start/Maintence/BackUp & Restore.

Any suggestions !

Have you checked "Control Panel >> System and Security >> Action Center" to see if there is messages about your backup and restore not being setup properly?

Edit:

From Action Center, I have "Backup and Restore" on the left side of the window. When I click "Backup and Restore", the new window has an option to select a new Backup program. The option is labeled "Select another backup to restore files from".

yes- when I go to the Action Center, and on the left side of the window & too see Backup & Restore- but nothing opens.
On the right side I see Recovery.
Selecting this does open the System Restore - and there are my restore points.

So some how the short cuts in Control Panel & Start Menu stopped working.

I am going to try an early restore point and see what happens (when I had the 2010 home version of Acronis).

I went to Services, to see if anything stood out.
Windows Back up - is set to Started & Manual. Should it be Automatic ?

If you haven't rebooted since Acronis 2011 was installed, you could try shutting down and then boot up, hit F8 and pick last known good configuration.

Thanks for the suggestion, however I had rebooted a few times since the install.

In the search type "restore your computer or reinstall windows" (w/o the quotes).

BUT
If you can't get stuff to open I would suspect registry errors or a needed service is stopped or deleted so I would try your system restore discs instead.

yes - I can access Restore points that way.

Will look into windows reinstall - is there not a way to re-install without loosing everything (starting from scratch)?

I meant to say the System Repair Disc. When you first booted after a fresh install it asks you to create a Repair Disc. Use of this disc is non-destructive.
