Is there a standalone program that can read in multiple picture files
and determine if they are the same thing or close to each other? There's
an online website that does something like this called, TinEye, but it
only compares online pictures to other online pictures, I'd like
something similar to compare local pictures on my on machine! This is
more than just comparing filesizes and CRC's, this actually seems know
how to visually compare the pictures.

Since your question is hardly win7 specific, I'd suggest you try a couple
of the photography groups - alt.photography or rec.photo.digital should
get you some answers.

I haven't used this myself, but it claims to do what you want and has
a free trial.

You might want to look at a general-purpose "duplicate file finder" -type
program. They can handle pictures, music or whatever, but they only work
if the file contents are byte-for-byte identical.

Search for a program called "deduper".
It compares images regardless of size.
It is quite old so I don't know if it will work on windows 7 64 bit or not.

I use Duplicate Cleaner. It's free! And it checks any type of file for an
exact copy. You can choose a specific directory to search, or even groups of
directories, and it list ALL the identical files in the chosen directories.
It will then delete any or all of the duplicates found (user defined), and
will remove any empty folders it leaves behind when it's finished. Very good
program.

He said he'd like a program that identifies pictures that look alike,
not just pictures that are identical.

By the way, your newsreader is a total failure when it comes to
quoting and attribution.

Yeah, no, I already have those types of utilities. I'm looking for
something that finds duplicates based on the content of the photos, e.g.
resized, cropped, retouched photos.

Hmm, thanks, this looks like it'll work by its description. I'll see
what it can actually do.

Would you mind coming back after you've played with it to let us know
how well it works? If it does what it claims, I'm sure others would
benefit from it, including myself.
