I see the latest from ATI will soon be available in the UK, looking forward to seeing some benches on the ATI Radeon HD 5850 and ATI Radeon HD 5870 DirectX 11 Cards

Here's a few review threads for those interested:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...on-hd5870.html
http://techreport.com/articles.x/17618
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/...eo_card_review
http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3643&p=1

Also an overview of the HD 5000 behind the scenes changes from non-other than our very own Thrax : http://icrontic.com/articles/the-sec...-hd-5000-gpus/

I'd love to get my hands on one of those HD5870's, but I think I'm going to be jumping in for an upgrade at the next big leap in GPU performance (as my current 8800 GTS runs everything I need for now).

Is anyone here going to get one of these new series cards?

I just wish my 8800GTS hadn't died in July. I had to spring for a GTX 275 when I could have put that $200 towards a 5870.

Gutting What happened to it, overheated?

Shame you couldn't keep the review sample for an uber-rig.

Ah, it just passed on. I have a well-ventilated case and whatnot, so it was probably just its time to go (2, maybe 3 years?). I probably could've attempted to reflow the solder in my oven, but it was time for an upgrade.

Some Cards just die...and some just keep going, in 2004 i got a GeForce 6600 GT and it packed a big punch, later it ended up in my neighbours Computer as a lone and its still running today.
