Oh, yes. 64 bit, even. Pinned to the taskbar and everything. I don't
remember if I used the "Troubleshoot compatibility" option, or not.

Where did you get that from? I said no such thing. Please don't put
words in my mouth.

I sent myself an email containing an animated gif. When I viewed the
message, the animation displayed just as it should.

Why would anybody care if the animation displays before sending? You
already know what it is. The important part is how it looks to the
receiver, and WLM does that just fine. Just create a regular email with
an attachment, not a "photo email."

It's one of my biggest dislikes about WLM (amongst others).
Not being able to see an animation before you send it, unless jumping
through hoops to use other methods, is plain stupid.
I insert the animated Gif 'inline'. Nothing moves before I send it, but does
when I look in the Sent folder.
XP & Outlook Express didn't make such a fuss and showed what you wanted to
see.
Windows 7 is nice, but WLM isn't.
(I have tried Thunderbird, but we didn't get on)

Why is that important to you? You already know its an animated gif
before you attach it to the message. What difference does it make
whether or not you can see the attachment move? Seems to me it's
nothing to get so worked up about.

I've read all your posts in this thread. None of them say why you or
anyone would need or want to be able to see an animated gif in action
from within Windows Live Mail before you send it.

Seems completely unnecessary to me.
