How did you manage the quoting in WLM?

Your message header says this, implying you're using Windows Live Mail Version 15.

"Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V15.4.3508.1109"

http://www.eggheadcafe.com/microsoft...t-threads.aspx

"I think I will switch to another usenet client."

And that is some sage advice.

I sort on descending sent date and WLM 15 seems to work OK
putting the oldest post in a thread on top.

Quoting does not work in crappy WLM newsgeroup.
Install a decent newsreader and kill file anybody using WLM.

I don't kill WLM15 users, but I do mark their posts as read
automatically, so I generally don't see them unless they get replied to
by someone else (like this case), however Tom does seem to have taken
the time to manually insert quote characters ...

Well Tom Lake managed it - that's what I was asking him. How he did it.

Believe it or not, Windows Mail, the worst newsreader EVER (excepting
maybe Thunderbird?) until Windows Live Mail, is available for Windows 7
and, although it's pretty awful for mail and even worse for newsgroups,
it's not as bad a WLM.

So if you prefer not to use a functional, GNKSA compliant newsreader
you can use Windows Mail in Windows 7, look here:

Not an issue with Windows 7 (or any version of Windows). The Windows
Live Mail (WLM) newsgroup is ...

.... thatta way ---> microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Although I don't know Thunderbird, I'll second everything else said
above. There are lots of better choices.
