Hi, I'm running windows 7 64bit home premium on my laptop and recently it has been running very slowly. Using malware bites, bulguard and ccleaner i have cleaned my machine as best as i am capable of and i also performed a system restore. After all this it is still running very slowly and almost comes to almost a halt when streaming videos. Running itunes and suring the net slows it right down too and it only picks up speed when the network capable is disconnected.
I do not know that much about computers so if someone could help me out i would really appreciate it.

Hi,

Uninstall Bullguard and then install MSE.

If issues persist, type msinfo32 in the start menu then press enter. File | save on the opened screen. Zip the saved file then attach the zip to a post using the paperclip above where you type, in advanced mode reply.

You should also defrag your HDD. I recommend using the free Defraggler by Piriform ( the makers or cleaner ).

Disable features you don't use, and uninstall software you don't need.

Hi,
I tried defragging too and i didn't free up that much space. When it slows down the CPU usage rockets but there arn't any really demanding processes going on in the back ground just the programs im using. I'll give uninstalling ome programs a go but the problem started only 2 days ago and i havn't installed any bulky programs,it basically happened over night.

I'll try mse too thanks

I've tried mse and it still couldn't find anythnig, i really don't know what it could be. Sometimes it's fine and other times it grinds to a halt. When it slows down it only speeds up again when i unplug the internet cable.

i've attached the msinfo32 file as you said. Hope you can find a solution thanks.

1) Update your Broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter driver, which is currently from July 8. 2009, that you have.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=ob-78054-1

2) Update your Marvell Yukon 88E8042 driver from this link. The only you have now is from September 28, 2009:

3) Update your SoundMax audio driver:

4) Update your ATI video driver:

5) Update your Synaptics Touchpad driver:

6) Update your modem drivers:

7) You still have not uninstalled Bullguard, which was the first thing I said to do. MSE is installed, which is good. Now remove Bullguard. (Bullguard is bad on it's own. Even worse with 2 a/v installed together like that.)

Enjoy.
