If you go to start menu\device manager is the Microsoft XBox Wireless Receiver for Windows shown and "installed, working correctly"? If not try getting the controller driver from the link. (Note if your OS is NOT the English version then follow this LINK)

I found Life Chat 1.3 but I cannot find any reference to whether it works in W7 either.

Again, thank you, I was able to go to Windows Explorer as you suggested and then able to look at the files on the CD. There were two different setups since the automatic one didn't work, I tried the second one , and guess what Eureka, it worked and now the ear phone works to perfection.
