32 Bit version of Windows 7

I am about to purchase a new computer with Windows 7 . Most likely an HP from Best Buy or Sams Club. Some of my software is old - as old as Win 3.1. How do I get it switched to the 32 bit version ?

Can you reword your problem. I am afraid I am not understanding the question.

I think he may be referring to programs that would now need a program like DosBox to make them run in W7

So he might be interested in the XP mode that comes with Windows 7 Professional.

Surely there must be some current software you're able to use versus the one(s) for 3.1.

Yes, in XP virtual mode you should be able to run it okay though.
