I would go with 64 bit. With the processing speed of an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 4 GB RAM, you have more than enough speed and power to easily run Win7 64 bit. Microsoft recommends a minimum of 2 GB RAM for 64 bit systems, so your setup should run very smoothly.

Plus if you install 32bit you will only be able to use 3.25GB of your RAM.

Yep, another vote for 64 bit from me - I really can't see any point running a system like that using a 32-bit OS. You wouldn't be able to make use of all your RAM without going down the x64 route.

I run Windows 7 x64 on a Q6600 with 4GB RAM myself

Thanks for the replies.
I was toying with the idea of adding more memory, but you've saved me some money.
This should last until I can build an i5 or i7 desktop.
A friend gave me a brand new sealed in the box Cooler Master stacker 830 - so I'm a little way there
Thanks so much

It's rather large though, plus it's heavy, but does have wheels

Model is RC-830-SSn2-GP (silver)

I'm amazed someone never opened the box and used it.

Thanks
